Al Araby TV – Beirut DTL studio
A down-the-line studio has one shot that matters: a single guest, framed from the chest up, speaking live to a presenter in another city. For Al Araby TV in Beirut, linked to the network’s operations in Doha, VIPRO made the view behind that guest the set.
The window is the backdrop
The studio is a glazed pavilion on a rooftop, with a planted roof and a terrace, looking across the city towards the port. Inside, the palette is dark and neutral and the branding restrained, down to a channel mug on the desk. Nothing competes with the face in the foreground and the city behind it, and the same room can serve different programmes.
Glazing brings its own problem: daylight that changes through the day. The lighting is a focused grid for single-person framing, with adjustable colour temperature and minimal shadowing, so the key light on the guest can be balanced against the brightness beyond the glass.
A small room with a full chain
Behind the frame sits a complete broadcast chain in a small footprint: camera systems, acoustic treatment, audio and IP-based transmission back to the network. Cabling is concealed, the presenter position is ergonomic, and the studio is planned to run under remote control with a minimal crew. VIPRO’s scope covered the pavilion’s architecture and interior, the set and branding, and the lighting, camera, audio and transmission systems.
